LOCKSMITHING AND KEYCUTTING

This two-part course offers you the opportunity to learn all the skills necessary to set up business as a locksmith / keycutter. It involves much more than just fixing locks in homes or cutting spare keys. You will be able to give advice about external locks, master key systems, key control and many other aspects of physical security. You will be a trusted expert in securing property and will be able to make keys for people who have lost them and also open locks without keys.

DRESSMAKING, DRESSCUTTING AND PATTERN DRAFTING, AND FASHION DESIGN

This course is structured in such a way, that you can develop your skills in dressmaking from what you already know, or you can start from scratch. The basic dressmaking course allows you to create garments from patterns and to finish them with that professional touch. Whereas the dresscutting and pattern drafting course will teach you how to create your own patterns for clothes which are completely unique and then turn them into finished articles. So if you’re looking for the solution to that “nothing to wear” problem which always seems to arise, perhaps you should consider making something to wear instead. CALLIGRAPHY

The word calligraphy is derived from the Greek “Kalligraphia” which means beautiful writing and that is exactly what this course aims to teach. There are in fact many different forms of calligraphic script and in order to help you learn and master these skills, Stott’s Correspondence College offer two separate courses in calligraphy.

PART ONE: The Italic Hand 

Price for course: £220 (includes equipment)

This course introduces the main calligraphic style, Italics. 
After a brief introductory feature on the origins and purpose of calligraphy, students will progress to learn:
The different materials involved in creating italic script, 
How to improve your writing through posture, height and weight of lettering, pen angle, etc.
Decorative letter joins, upper and lower case alphabet, uses for your new skill.

PART TWO: Advanced Calligraphy 

Price for course: £210 (includes equipment)

Teaches three new styles of writing, These are:
1) Foundational hand or Roman script.
2) Uncial style writing
3) Gothic Blackletter.

All three styles are practised in upper and lower case and tips are given for improvement as in part one.
